There are so many fitness and weight loss myths and misconceptions that drive us crazy down here at Empowered Fitness! Today we’re going to look into another myth and put it to rest so you don’t fall for the many health gimmicks and fads.

So often we hear talk about deadlifts being bad for your back but the reality is that if done with correct form and a good flat back, deadlifts are great for you. It is the ultimate full body workout that trains almost every muscle group in the body. Leg muscles, glutes, the entire back, core & arm muscles. It is one of the best functional exercises you can do for core stability, glute activation & power development. Oddly enough, it’s also one of the most neglected compound exercises due to the long standing myth that it’s “bad for your back.”

In reality, a properly executed deadlift will actually strengthen your entire back. If you do it well and do it in a way that is appropriate for your body, then it is as safe as any other exercise.
